A vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a campsite in Pembrokeshire, injuring a total of seven people and leaving two others in serious condition. Among those injured was a baby who was inside the tent hit by the car during the incident, which occurred shortly after 10:30 pm on Saturday. The campsite owner, Clare Harris, confirmed that the baby is safe following the ordeal. It remains unclear whether the child is one of the individuals who required hospitalization.
The collision involved a blue Ford Fiesta and resulted in the car hitting multiple people and the tent. One individual was airlifted to University Hospital of Wales, while four others were taken by ambulance to Glangwilli Hospital, and one was transported to Morriston Hospital. Dyfed Powys Police reported that passengers inside the car were also injured.
Harris, who operates the campsite alongside her husband, described the incident, saying that the car was speeding downhill and attempted to brake but flipped and rolled multiple times before crashing into the tent where a young child was present. She expressed sympathy for the tragic accident and emphasized that the police are currently handling the situation.
The incident prompted HM Coastguard to establish a helicopter landing site and provide assistance to paramedics. Dyfed Powys Police are urging witnesses to come forward with any information, including dashcam or doorbell footage, regarding the vehicle’s movement from Roch to the collision site in Newgale.
The Welsh Ambulance Service dispatched multiple units to the scene, including emergency ambulances, a high-acuity response unit, and support from the medical and retrieval transfer service, as well as a search and rescue helicopter. One patient was airlifted to University Hospital of Wales, while others were transported by road to Glangwilli and Morriston Hospitals. The road, which was closed for investigation, has since been reopened.
